Forthcoming concerts

22nd June 2024 - VOICES FROM THE NEW WORLD

22/06/2024 19:30

A concert celebrating the wide diversity of classical music from the Americas. We open with Arturo Marquez's celebration of his native Mexico with his famous "Danzon no.2".  We then follow with a piece from "the dean of American music" Aaron Copland- "The Tender Land Suite".  Lastly, we present the beautiful, romantically inspired Symphony no. 1 by Florence Beatrice Price. The piece was Price's first full-scale orchestral composition and was the first symphony by a Black woman to be performed by a major American orchestra (the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in 1933)

12th October 2024 - THE FIRST...AT LAST

12/10/2024 19:30

Join us for an enchanting evening of classical music as the Market Harborough Orchestra proudly presents "The First at Last", a celebration of musical milestones. Immerse yourself in the timeless beauty of Gustav Holst's Japanese Suite, capturing the essence of the East with its evocative melodies. Experience the brilliance of W.A. Mozart's final concerto, for clarinet, featuring our own principal clarinettist Michelle Yates. The concert reaches its grand crescendo with Jean Sibelius's Symphony No. 1, a majestic journey through Nordic landscapes. Join us on this musical voyage that pays homage to the birth and legacy of Holst, the culmination of Mozart's concerto repertoire, and the impressive debut of Sibelius's symphonic genius.
